After making pens for many years my developed methods statute skillfully. There have been many iterations of the steps higher than the years. I get your hands on fiddle as soon as the steps from epoch to period subsequent to a work up occurs. I would publicize that my methods are not the on your own quirk to make pens, but as soon as the equipment I own, they do something adeptly for me.

Selecting the pen type. It is important to pick the pen in the first instance. The pen type determines the size of the blank and the finish that I will apply to the pen. I usually reach not begin a pen until I have the kit, for that marginal note that all measurements are checked.
Selection of the pen blanks. Wood and acrylic (resins) make immense pen blanks. In most cases I begin considering a little log that I clip to blank size considering a band proverb. The logs are small passable to control without any specialised lifting gear. I usually clip the log in half and consider the grain, later I select either to quarter-saying or half-saying the log. On occasions, I saying the log transversely to get a more contrasting grain. The wood is sawn to 18 mm x 18 mm strips which are along with scuff to length to violence a pen.
Preparing the blanks. Each finished pen has a brass tube which houses the internal components of the pen. The tube is in the centre of the vacant. I use either gorilla fix or CA cement to epoxy resin the tubes into the blanks. Then after curing a square off the ends.
Turning the vacant. I use a midi lathe to approach pens, using both a spindle roughing gouge and a skew chisel to finish the turning.
Finishing the blanks. After sanding the blanks going on to 3,000 grit, I apply the finishes. There are many finishes, but I mostly use two (a Using the EEE products for wood sponsorship and go-getter considering their friction polish and (b) CA fix finish. The CA epoxy resin finish is sanded right through to 12,000 grit using micro mesh strips.
Assembling the pen. The pen in finally assembled using a portable pen assembler.
After do something, I photograph each pen and manage to pay for it a number for easy identification and tracking for either online sales or in p.s. sales.
